The invention relates to polymer films which are based on polyazoles and which are 0 to 20% by weight soluble in N,N-dimethylacetamide at 130°C and 1000 hPa in respect of the polyazole content thereof, to processes for production thereof and to the use thereof as polymer electrolyte membranes for production of membrane electrode assemblies for fuel cells, and as a semipermeable membrane for separation of liquids and gases.
