Self-supported film and silicon plate obtained by sintering

The film (2) has thin layers with 50 percent of silicon particles (4) encapsulated in a polymer die (3) for protecting silicon particles against oxidation. The polymer die has polymer e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene, protected against oxidation, where the polymer is formed from alkene type monomer. The thin layers have N type doped silicon particles or P type doped silicon particles, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a silicon plate of a photovoltaic cell.
