<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance device, a fluid ejecting apparatus and a maintenance method which close nozzle openings of respective nozzles while restraining a meniscus formed in a plurality of nozzles from being broken. <P>SOLUTION: A printer includes a fluid ejecting head 18 having the plurality of nozzles 23, an ink supply channel 20 and the maintenance device 14. The maintenance device 14 includes a pressure regulating mechanism 28 configured to reduce the pressures in the interiors of the ink supply channels 20 at a position of pressure reduction M2, and a tight cap 50 being brought into abutment with the fluid ejecting head 18 so as to close the nozzle openings 25 of the nozzles 23 which receives a supply of ink through flow channels which have relatively small pressure losses first by priority according to the magnitudes of the pressure losses in the respective flow channels extending from the position of pressure reduction M2 to the respective nozzles 23, after the pressure reduction by the pressure regulating mechanism 28 is started. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
