<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection method in which a plurality of contact points is detected in a five-wire type of touch panel. <P>SOLUTION: A touch panel comprises: a lower conductive film having four electrodes arranged at each end part of four sides; and an upper conductive film having a plurality of divided conductive areas. In the touch panel, a part of the conductive areas has a conductive area body part and an extraction region, other conductive areas are formed by the conductive area body part, and a plurality of extraction regions are formed adjacent each other. A position detection method of the touch panel comprises: a potential detection determination process that determines if a potential is detected from all of the conductive areas having an extraction region placed between two of the conductive area body part and the conductive area of the conductive area body part adjacent to the extraction region; a potential value determination process that determines if all potentials detected in the potential detection determination process are the same; and a contact position detection process that determines a contact position is in the extraction region if it is determined that all potentials detected in the potential detection determination process are the same. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
