<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus imaging system including one pixel array coupled with one focus signal generator. <P>SOLUTION: A pixel array takes an image including at least one edge having a width. A focus signal generator generates focus signal representing a function of a statistic amount of the width of a single and/or plural edges. A processor receives the focus signal and/or statistic of the width of the plural edges, and adjusts a focus point of a focus lens. The edge width may be determined by using various techniques including use of inclination. Using a histogram representing the width of plural edges, it is determined if one specific image is focused.
