<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high amplification efficiency and high noise performance of signal light in an optical amplifier device using an optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: An optical amplifier device 1 is an optical amplifier device for amplifying a signal light Lin which includes an optical amplifier medium 30 having a core propagating signal light and removing means 31 to remove light belonging to a prescribed wavelength range, within the light propagating through the core of the optical amplifier medium, from the core of the optical amplifier medium.
