<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal conversion apparatus and conversion method for converting video signals compliant with HDMI1.4 standard to enable 3-D video signals to be displayed even by an LSI compliant with HDMI1.3 or earlier standards. <P>SOLUTION: The signal conversion apparatus includes an HEMI signal input unit which accepts as its input a video signal compliant with HDMI standard; a video type discrimination unit which determines whether the video signal fed into the HEMI signal input unit is a 3-D video signal or a 2-D video signal; a signal conversion unit which adds a synchronizing signal to the input video signal if it has been determined to be a 3-D video signal by the video type discrimination unit; a first output unit which outputs a video signal which has been determined to be a 2-D video signal by the video type discrimination unit or a video signal which has been converted by the signal conversion unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
