<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoresis display device capable of enhancing contrast, and further to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A back substrate 52 provided with a transparent electrode 54 and a transparent substrate 53 provided with the transparent electrodes 55<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to 55<SB POS="POST">3</SB>are disposed at a predetermined distance D. Between the transparent substrate 53 and the back substrate 52 is disposed a plurality of microcapsules 56A. In each of the microcapsules 56A is sealed a fluid dispersion composed of electrophoresis particles 57 dispersed in a dispersion medium 61 in advance by microencapsulation techniques. The plurality of microcapsules 56A is interposed between the transparent substrate 53 and the back substrate 52.
