<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with a simple apparatus configuration that is capable of correcting relative phase shifts among image carriers caused by periodic fluctuations in circumferential speeds of a plurality of image carriers, and a method for correcting the relative phase shifts among the image carriers. <P>SOLUTION: The method for correcting relative phase shifts includes: a driving section 100 rotating image carriers 3a through 3d at a constant circumferential speed V; a pattern forming section 302 forming patterns Pa through Pd corresponding to the image carriers 3a through 3d on a recording medium 7 for every pitch θ p in a circumferential direction C; a measuring section 307 measuring, based on the patterns Pa through Pd, amounts of phase shifts indicating relative phase shifts of rotational unevenness of image carriers 3c, 3d and 3a which are targets to be adjusted and are other than the image carrier 3b which is any one adjustment target; and a notification section 304 notifying that the image carriers 3c, 3d and 3a, which are targets to be adjusted, are the image carriers which are the subjects of detachment from the apparatus body A based on the measurement result by the measuring section 307. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
