<p>Hardener for silicone rubber mass, comprises at least a silane containing compound (I). Hardener for silicone rubber mass, comprises at least a silane containing compound of formula (Si(R 1>) 3R 2>) (I). R 1>[2-(1-methylethoxy)ethoxy]-residue of formula (-OC 2H 5OCH(CH 3) 2); and R 2>1C-alkyl, 2C-alkenyl, 2C-alkynyl, 3C-cycloalkyl or 5C-aryl (all optionally substituted), preferably CH 3, C 2H 5, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, sec.butyl, tert.butyl, allyl, vinyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or diphenyl. Independent claims are included for: (1) a composition comprising the hardener and an organosilicon compound; and (2) the preparation of the hardener comprising reacting a silane containing compound of formula (Si(X) 3R 2>) (II) with 2-(1-methylethoxy)ethanol (3 equivalents).
