<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolation structure that can sufficiently exert a seismic isolation effect while suppressing displacement. <P>SOLUTION: A structure 1 is connected to a fixed end through a structure spring 2 and structure damping 3, and a response reduction mechanism to reduce a response displacement to a seismic vibration input of the structure is installed parallel to the structure spring. The response reduction mechanism comprises an inertial mass damper 4, an additional damping 7 connected in series to the inertial mass damper, and restoration spring 5' connected in parallel to the additional damper. The spring stiffness k<SB POS="POST">2</SB>of the restoration spring 5' and the damping coefficient C<SB POS="POST">d2</SB>of the additional damping 7 are appropriately set on the basis of the spring rigidity k<SB POS="POST">1</SB>of the structure spring 2, the mass m of the structure 1 and the inertial mass ψ<SB POS="POST">2</SB>of the inertial mass damper 4.
