FIELD: information technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: apparatus for transmitting sequence of data packets includes a receiver (11) for receiving a sequence of packets with given syntax, a detector (13) for detecting missing or faulty packets in the sequence, a module (14) for replacing faulty or missing packets for generating replacement packets, and a unit (15) for outputting a sequence of packets, comprising at least one received packet and one replacement packet. Replacement packets have a correct syntax structure, contain predetermined audio content with content characteristic reproducible by a basic decoder, and are labelled with a replacement packet label. The basic decoder ignores the replacement packet labelling or recognises it such that the replacement packet is decoded as a full packet in accordance with the content characteristic.
