The device (1) has a transparent container (2) containing volatile substance e.g. volatile liquid, and including a wick extended along a vertical axis (X). An absorbing material provided with upper and lower sides, is extended in a plane orthogonal to the vertical axis. The wick has an upper end that is positioned in contact with the lower side of the absorbing material. The absorbing material is placed downstream from an axial electric fan such that the upper side of the absorbing material is struck by draught generated by the fan.
