摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a sensor system for detecting an air-fuel ratio by using a mechanism for generating corona discharge. <P>SOLUTION: An engine 10 has a corona discharge exhaust gas purification device 28. The exhaust gas purification device 28 purifies PM in exhaust gas by generating corona discharge between a center electrode 62 and a ground electrode 64. An ECU 50 has map data including data on relationship between a discharge current flowing between the electrodes 62 and 64 upon corona discharge and A/F. The ECU 50 calculates the A/F based on the discharge current during operation of the engine, and performs air-fuel ratio feedback control immediately after start-up. No air-fuel ratio sensor is required, thereby simplifying the sensor system. No waiting time is required until the air-fuel sensor is activated, so that air-fuel ratio control can quickly be started immediately after activation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
