摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distribution type optical fiber sensor capable of measuring distortion or temperature with high-sensitivity and high accuracy, while keeping high spatial resolution. <P>SOLUTION: The distribution type optical fiber sensor comprises an optical fiber 10, a Rayleigh measuring means 11 measuring Rayleigh frequency shift amount &Delta;&nu;r on the basis of the distortion or the temperature of the optical fiber 10 by using a Rayleigh scattering phenomenon, and a calculating means calculating the distortion or the temperature of the optical fiber 10 from the Rayleigh frequency shift amount &Delta;&nu;r.
