<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that can be miniaturized while making the layer thickness of developer which is carried on a peripheral surface of a developing roller uniform over the axial direction thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A layer thickness regulation member 41 is provided around an oscillation axis 42 in parallel with an interval from a developing roller axis 37 so as to be oscillated, and extends along the horizontal direction. A coil spring 50 is provided between a non-developing service part and the layer thickness regulation member 41 in a developing roller 8. The layer thickness regulation member 41 has a pressed part 44, at one side of direction orthogonal to the oscillation axis 42, which is pressed in the direction separating from the non-developing service part by the coil spring 50. The layer thickness regulation member 41 has also a roller contact part 45, at opposite side of direction orthogonal to the oscillation axis 42, which is in contact with the developing roller 8 along the horizontal direction.
