FUNCTIONALIZATION OF CARBON NANOTUBES USING RADIOACTIVE RAY IRRADIATION

PURPOSE: A method for modifying the surface of carbon nanotubes using radioactive ray is provided to generate a functional group containing oxygen on the surface of the carbon nanotubes by directly irradiating the radioactive ray to the carbon nanotubes under an oxygen atmosphere. CONSTITUTION: A functional group containing oxygen is generated on the surface of carbon nanotubes by directly irradiating radioactive ray to the carbon nanotubes under an oxygen atmosphere. The radioactive ray is high level gamma ray. The irradiating amount of the radioactive ray is between 5 and 30 kGy. The carbon nanotubes are one or more selected from single wall carbon nanotubes, double wall carbon nanotubes, and multi wall carbon nanotubes.
