The device has a video sequence divider for dividing a video sequence into frames, where each frame is divided into blocks (101). A vertical cache memory stores data associated with adjacent block located on left of the current block of the frame in a single image. A horizontal cache memory stores another data associated with another adjacent block connected to the current block in the frame. A processing element is connected with the horizontal and vertical cache memory units for receiving the datum and performing a compression process of the video sequence. An independent claim is also included for a method for storing data in horizontal and vertical cache memory units.
