<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator which can maintain ion collection capability even after prolonged use and can reliably detect the ion generation state by suppressing the adhesion of dust, etc. onto an ion detector. <P>SOLUTION: An ion generator 1 and an ion detector 3 are provided on a blower passage 15 for guiding generated ions outside. A movable cover 61 covering the ion detector 3 is provided such that it is arranged in front of the ion detector 3. The cover 61 is moved by a stepping motor 62. When ions are detected, the cover 61 opens so that the ion detector 3 is exposed on the blower passage 15 to face the ion generator 1. When no ions are detected, the cover 61 closes to cover the ion detector 3 and hides it from the blower passage 15. Even when air is blown on the blower passage 15, the ion detector 3 does not come into contact with the air, thus preventing the adhesion of foreign matter such as dust onto the ion detector 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
