<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel succinic acid imide compound which is useful for an ashless dispersant in a lubricant for an internal combustion engine, a friction modifier in a drive system lubricant, and the like; a lubricant additive containing the compound; and a lubricant composition. <P>SOLUTION: The succinic acid imide compound is represented by formula (1).
