<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data shift system and a data shift method capable of efficiently configuring and arranging a new volume and reducing burdens on a manager. <P>SOLUTION: The data shift system for shifting data from a shift origin to a shift destination includes: means which is interposed between the outside and a shift origin storage device, is communicably connected with the outside and the shift origin storage device, and acquires access characteristic information accessed by the outside for a shift origin volume held by the shift origin storage device; means which collates the characteristic information of respective storage areas held by the shift destination storage device and the acquired access characteristic information and selects the storage area for shifting shift origin data on the basis of the collation result; means which constructs a volume corresponding to the shift origin volume in the selected storage area; and means which shifts the data from the shift origin volume to the constructed volume after the volume is constructed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
