The relay (10) has a coil housing (14) comprising a coil assembly (22) and movable anchors (24), where the coil assembly allows or disrupts current flow by magnetic flux produced in the coil assembly by coil current over two main contact terminals (16.1, 16.2). A control unit (20) is formed on a round printed circuit board, which modulates the coil current in the relay and generates pulsed coil current. The control unit controls time spacing of pulses and/or pulse width of the coil current, where the pulse width is variable as a function of input voltage of the relay.
