The generator has a turbine wheel (3), an electrical generator, and a support unit. A mutual position of the turbine wheel and the electrical generator is determined with respect to each other. A gear box is provided for transmission of torque from the turbine wheel to a shaft (27) of the generator. An outer ring (39) is connected with the support unit. An inner ring (37) is connected with turbine wheel. The inner ring surrounds a water stream guided by the turbine wheel.
