<p>A data multiplexing method in which a picture is handled as a group of a plurality of objects and picture data are processed and multiplexed into multiplexed data on an object basis, comprising the step of dividing the picture into a plurality of main objects and specifying each main object; the step of, if necessary, further dividing each of the specified main objects into a plurality of levels of a hierarchy and specifying by dividing the main object into smaller subordinate objects; the step of packing each main object and/or subordinate object into a packet and giving a packet number to each packet; and the step of adding the hierarchized data to the multiplex data as hierarchized information. A method and device for reproducing multiplexed data are used for reproducing the data multiplexed by the data multiplexing method.</p> |
