The device (1) has a three-phase electrical machine (6) i.e. direct current (DC) machine, operated as a motor or a generator, and a three-phase converter (7) comprising a half bridge with power switches (S1-S6) e.g. MOSFETs. A portion among the power switches is electrically connected with terminals (K1-K3) of the electric machine over a supply path. An inductor (L) of a voltage conversion element electrically connects a low voltage area (2) and the portion between the power switches of the half bridge over another supply path that is different from the former supply path. An independent claim is also included for a method for transmitting energy in a motor car.
