SURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE-BASED LIGHT EMITTING DIODE USING CORE-SHELL NANOPARTICLES

PURPOSE: A surface Plasmon resonance based light emitting diode using a core-shell nano particle is provided to improve quantum efficiency by inducing a surface Plasmon resonance phenomenon with an active layer in an LED structure using a metal core. CONSTITUTION: A first conductive semiconductor layer(102) is formed on a substrate(101). An active layer(103) is formed on the first conductive semiconductor layer. A second conductive semiconductor layer(104) is formed on the active layer. A nano particle layer(105) of a metal core-insulator shell structure is formed on the second conductive semiconductor layer. A transparent conductive layer or area is formed on the nano particle layer.
