<p>The invention relates to a system (1) for coating, in particular varnishing, objects, in particular vehicle bodies, having a coating cabin (2) in a known manner wherein coating material can be applied to the objects. An air stream that takes up and discharges the overspray particles of the coating material is conducted through the coating cabin (2). This air stream is conducted to an inlet opening (15) of an electrostatically operating separator (14) that is located on the underside of the separator (14). Overspray particles are separated from the air flowing upward in the separator (14) on at least one separator electrode (25) in the electrical field to at least one counter electrode device (26). The purified air leaves the separator (14) via an outlet opening (16) on its top side. The type of air flow in the separator (14) from bottom to top protects sensitive interior components of the separator (14). The strongest separation occurs in the lower region of the separator electrode (14) such that during the upward movement of the air, increasingly clean air interacts with increasingly clean regions of the separator electrode (25,, 40).</p> |
