The boat roof has a swiveling mechanism provided with a raising unit (6). A roof unit (5) is raisable by swiveling the raising unit around a swivel axis to produce an opening gap between the roof unit and the remaining cover areas (4). The swiveling mechanism and the roof unit are designed to raise the roof unit as a whole. The roof unit has an invariable outline and is designed as a part of a structure (3) on the boat deck of a boat (1).
