PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device capable of uniformly emitting light and of preventing breakage of a lamp.SOLUTION: The backlight device includes: a cabinet 12 to have first and second sides 15a, 15b which are nearly in parallel; a plurality of curved fluorescent lamps 20 comprising mutually nearly parallel two straight tube parts 202 to respectively have an electrode part 201 at one end, and a curved tip part 203 which is formed at the other end of respective straight tube parts 202 which is in order to align respective electrode parts 201 at one side; and a first pair of protrusions which hold respective curved tip parts 203 of the plurality of curved fluorescent lamps 20 and are aligned in a straight line along a side part reflecting face 19 in the cabinet 12; and a second pair of protrusions to hold one of the respective straight tube parts 202.
