PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a facial image processing apparatus for accurately estimating the facial direction of an input facial image, with improved collation accuracy of input facial image.SOLUTION: The facial image processing apparatus for estimating the facial direction of a person in an input facial image is provided with a storage unit for storing registration facial images corresponding to a plurality of registration persons whose facial directions are different from each other; a degree of similarity calculation means for calculating the degree of similarity between each of the registration facial images and the input facial image; a facial direction voting means for voting for the facial direction corresponding to the registration facial image whose calculated degree of similarity is equal to or higher than a predetermined degree of similarity; and a facial direction determination means for estimating the facial direction which has been voted most frequently for by the facial direction voting means as the facial direction of the input facial image. |
