PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical position detector, capable of accurately detecting a position of an object over the whole detection space without using an imaging element, and a display device with position detecting function which includes the optical position detector.SOLUTION: The optical position detector 10 includes a position detecting light source device 11 which emits a detecting light L2 composed of an infrared light having a peak wavelength in a band of 840 to 1,000 nm toward a detecting space 10R; and a light detector 30 which detects a detecting light L3 reflected by the object. In the light source device 11, the light intensity distribution of the detecting light L2 emitted from the position detecting light source 12 is converted by a light intensity distribution converting liquid crystal device 16 with a light intensity distribution converting liquid crystal panel 160 prior to the emission. |
