PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein printing speed is lowered when a displacement member displaced according to the residual amount of liquid in a sub-tank is detected by a detecting means on the apparatus body side to detect a full tank.SOLUTION: A carriage 33 is moved into a position to carry out predetermined full-tank detection, and the sub-tank 35 is supplied with ink. Filling is carried out until a first sensor 251 detects the displacement member 205 of the sub-tank 35, and liquid feeding is further continued as it is to carry out filling until a second sensor 301 detects the displacement member 205 of the sub-tank 35. The amount of liquid feed until the second sensor 301 detects the displacement member 205 of the sub-tank 35 after the first sensor 251 detects the displacement member 205 of the sub-tank 35, is detected as a differential amount of liquid feed and held. During the printing operation, the differential supply amount is filled after the first sensor 251 detects the displacement member 205. |
