METHOD OF TREATING NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES

A method of treating neurological diseases, like Alzheimer's Disease by administering a compound that activates protein kinase C and inhibits histone deacetylases to an individual suffering from the neurological disease. The method utilizes benzolactam compounds that reduce A&bgr; production and blocks oxidative stress in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The benzolactam compounds and compositions containing the benzolactam compounds also are disclosed.
