PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dichroic dye-containing liquid capable of suppressing haze without a decline in the adhesiveness of a polarizing layer; and to provide a polarizer containing the dichroic dye.SOLUTION: The dichroic dye-containing liquid contains a dichroic dye (A) and a toughness-imparting agent (B); wherein the components (A) and (B) are either dispersed or dissolved in an aqueous solvent. This dichroic dye-containing liquid is such that: the content of the solids [X] (mass%) of the toughness-imparting agent (B) relative to the dichroic dye-containing liquid and the 100% modulus [Y] (MPa) of the toughening-imparting agent (B) meet formula (1): 0.01≤X≤1.0, and formula (2): Y≥0.14X, respectively. The polarizer is such that: an alignment layer and a polarizing layer are serially provided on a substrate; wherein the polarizing layer is formed by aligning and depositing a dichroic dye using the dichroic dye-containing liquid. |
