PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free fall device for precisely and stably measuring gravity acceleration by restraining rotation of a falling body under drop to allow free fall of it, while eliminating occurrence of mechanical vibration in the falling body under drop.SOLUTION: In the device, a mirror reflector 20 is prepared on the falling body 2, optical center of which is accorded with gravity of the whole falling body 2. A holding/detaching means of the falling body 2 includes a plurality of laterally-displaceable contactors 362. The plurality of contactors 362 contact the falling body 2 at two or more points on horizontal plane passing through the gravity to keep the falling body 2 in an initial state, simultaneously displace the plurality of contactors 362 contacting the falling body 2 at the two or more points in the direction of separating them from the falling body 2, and then isolate the falling body 2 from its initial state to enable free fall of it. |
