PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector, the optical modulation device of which can be effectively cooled.SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes: the optical modulation device 351 configured to modulate an incident luminous flux; a projection optical device 36 configured to project the luminous flux modulated by the optical modulation device 351; and a cooling device configured to cool the optical modulation device 351. The optical modulation device 351 is disposed such that its end face 351A on an incident side of the luminous flux is approximately parallel to an optical axis OAx of the projection optical device 36. The cooling device includes a cooling fan sucking and discharging air, and a duct 7 having a discharge portion 72 that causes the air discharged from the cooling fan to circulate along a direction approximately parallel to the optical axis OAx, and discharges it in a side direction of the optical modulation device 351. The duct 7 is disposed in a state that, when the projection optical device 36 and the discharge portion 72 are cut by a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OAx, the height position of a first center CD between the upper end 72A and lower end 72B of the cross-section of the discharge portion 72 and that of the optical axis OAx differ from each other. |
