<p>The invention relates to a storm drain (gully) and to a method for operating the same, having an upper inlet chamber (5) and a lower outlet chamber separated therefrom by means of an inlet chamber floor (9), wherein the outlet opening of the inlet chamber is through a pipe (8) or a siphon significantly above the inlet chamber floor (9), and having an outlet pipeline in the outlet chamber that can be closed by means of a float. In order that the flow in the area of the precipitated sludge is calmed to the extent that said sludge is not rinsed away unintentionally, the invention proposes that the outlet chamber is divided into a plurality of vertically divided subchambers (7,10,11,12), a mesh or honeycomb structure (14) located at the floor is inserted in at least one of the subchambers, such that the interior of the structure forms a plurality of sludge collecting pockets that are open to the top.</p> |
