<p>An articulating carriage (10) for moving an object (12) across a surface (14) having a non-planar obstruction (16) to allow movement of the object (12) over the obstruction (16). The articulating carriage (10) has a walking beam assembly (20) that pivotally supports a pedestal (22) to dispose a support surface (92) thereof above the walking beam assembly (20). The walking beam assembly (20) has a base plate (26), wheeled casters 34/36 and a pair of spaced apart hangers 42/44 having articulation openings ((50). The walking beam (20) pivots relative to the pedestal (22). In one embodiment, the pedestal (22) is pivotally mounted on the walking beam assembly (20). In another embodiment, a pair of walking beam assemblies 20a/20b are connected with a crosstube (130) that pivotally supports the pedestal (22). In another embodiment, a major crosstube assembly (168) connects a pair of crosstubes (30) to define a carriage (10).</p>
