PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that detects a signal from a defective pixel of an image sensor with high accuracy, by using image data generated by the image sensor constituted by a plurality of pixels.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a first determiner that obtains a first determination value indicating a magnitude of a difference in signal levels between a pixel of interest and a plurality of pixels located in the neighborhood of the pixel of interest, and a second determiner that obtains a second determination value indicating variations of magnitude of the difference in signal levels between the pixel of interest and the plurality of pixels located in the neighborhood of the pixel of interest. The first determination value is larger and larger as the magnitude of the difference in signal level is larger and larger, and the second determination value is larger and larger as the magnitude of the difference in signal level is smaller and smaller. Further, the image processing apparatus includes a detector that detects the signal from the pixel of interest being a defective pixel signal when the first determination value and the second determination value are both equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold. |
