The method involves supplying flammable fluid to a reaction chamber (100) edged by a material layer (80) that is formed by a metal wire net or a porous element, and initiating combustion of the flammable fluid. The combustion is maintained until the material layer attains temperature higher than or equal to 700 degree Celsius. Quantity of water is supplied to the heated material layer. The water is driven toward the material layer by aeraulic effect. A position of an outlet (112) of a fluid supply conduit (110) is adjustable according to a longitudinal axis (X-X') of the reaction chamber. An independent claim is also included for a burner comprising a reaction chamber.
