PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an image processing apparatus capable of reading at a low amount of light of a light source without causing deterioration in a resolution in a sub-scanning direction by using a single unit of line CCD; an image processing method; and a program.SOLUTION: If a light source 4a has low illuminance and a required resolution is so low that sufficient image quality cannot be obtained, reading is executed two times at the required resolution and a resolution lower than the required resolution, the feature is detected from an image (image having good quality) read at the resolution lower than the required resolution, and an image (image having bad quality) read at the required resolution is processed using a result of detection. If the resolution is enough so that the sufficient quality can be obtained although the light source 4a is low illuminance, reading is executed at the required resolution, and the feature detection and image processing are executed for an image read at the required resolution. |
