摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for driving a capacitative electromechanical transduction apparatus, to prevent the reception characteristic from being significantly influenced by an acoustic wave generated by an object other than the to-be-measured object in measurement using the photoacoustic effect.SOLUTION: The apparatus is configured to drive a capacitative electromechanical transduction apparatus 103 including a cell with a first electrode and a second electrode disposed so as to oppose each other via a gap. The apparatus includes a detection unit and a driving control unit. The detection unit detects a timing of outputting of an electromagnetic wave from an electromagnetic wave source 101 configured to output the electromagnetic wave 112 to irradiate an object 102 to be measured. The driving control unit, in synchronization with timing of outputting the electromagnetic wave from the electromagnetic wave source 101 based on the detection from the detection unit, puts the capacitive electromechanical transduction apparatus 103 in a receiving state only for a period in which the acoustic wave generated in an inside of the object 102 to be measured irradiated with the electromagnetic wave 112 is received.
