<p>The invention proposes a method for estimating the bits produced in the encoding of a video sequence, said encoded video sequence comprising a plurality of temporal segments, said method comprising: receiving the video sequence encoded with first perceptual quality, said video sequence encoded with a first perceptual quality comprising a plurality of temporal segments; analysing each segment of the video sequence encoded at a first perceptual quality to determine the bits associated with each segment; and estimating the bits associated with each segment of the video sequence to be encoded at a second perceptual quality, wherein said estimate is a function of a scaling factor applied to the bits associated with each corresponding segment from the video sequence encoded at the first perceptual quality, wherein the scaling factor is dependent on the first perceptual quality and the second perceptual quality.</p> |
