To cultivate plants 9 the plant roots 15 are placed through the upper cover 5 of an arrangement of several superimposed channels of V-folded plastic sheets 1, 3, 4 which are supported at the free edges 6, 7 by a pair of rods or cables 2 so as to have spaces 13, 17, 18 between the sheets, and an aqueous solution containing plant nutrients is circulated in a cascade fashion through the spaces. The first space between an upper sheet and the cover incorporates a mass 14 of a substrate in which the plants are rooted and which is kept permanently moist with the nutrient solution. This combination of hydroponic and media growing environment permits a steady supply of micronutrients to be supplied to the plants. |
