A lead bronze alloy containing 5 per cent. to 30 per cent. of lead is used to form the operating surface of a disc-shaped grinding tool (see Group XXIII) for polishing rough rolled plate glass. The Provisional Specification states that the lead content of the alloy may be between 5 per cent. and 40 per cent. Six examples of the alloy are: copper 74 per cent., tin 5 per cent., lead 20 per cent., nickel 1 per cent.; copper 80 per cent., tin 2 1/2 per cent., zinc 2 1/2 per cent., 15 per cent.; copper 80 per cent., tin 10 per cent., lead 10 per cent.; copper 72 per cent., tin 2 per cent., lead 25 per cent., nickel 1 per cent.; copper 83 per cent., tin 12 per cent., lead 5 per cent.; copper 64 per cent., tin 5 per cent., lead 30 per cent., nickel 1 per cent.
