A communication apparatus, which is operative to perform communications using a communication cable including a plurality of pair lines each constituted by two core wires, comprises: an interface unit (310) that can connect to the communication cable; a determining unit (320) that is operative to determine a value indicating the status of each of the plurality of pair lines included in the communication cable connected to the interface unit (310), thereby acquiring a plurality of determination values; and an abnormality information outputting unit (330) that is operative to output abnormality information indicating an abnormality of the communication cable when the plurality of determination values acquired by the determining unit (320) are not nearly the same.
