PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of obtaining a wide, high-surface-pressure nip without making a stationary member large in size. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes, in this order in a pressing direction to form a nip: a rotary heat roller 78 that is heated by a heat source 84; the stationary member 74 disposed in sliding contact with part of the outer circumferential surface of the heat roller 78; a flexible fixing belt 77 stretched to be laid between the heat roller 78 and the stationary member 74; and a pressure roller 72 that comes in press contact with the stationary member 74 across the fixing belt 77 to form the nip. The pressure of the nip is applied by a pressurizing force between the heat roller 78 and the pressure roller 72 through the fixing belt 77 and the stationary member 74.
