PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus capable of autonomously and distributingly forming an adhoc network even in the absence of a piconet coordinator and an adaptor connected to a host communication apparatus. SOLUTION: The wireless communication apparatus includes: a beacon signal analysis section 804 that grasps a time when each of surrounding wireless communication apparatuses acts as the host communication apparatus on the basis of information included in a beacon signal from each of the surrounding wireless communication apparatuses; a host setting section 816 that sets a time when its own wireless communication apparatus acts as the host communication apparatus at a time when each of the surrounding wireless communication apparatuses does not act as the host communication apparatus; and a transaction setting section 809 that sets a transaction group for the time when its own wireless communication apparatus acts as the host communication apparatus. The adhoc network can autonomously and distributingly be built up without the need for designating a particular wireless communication apparatus as the host communication apparatus by distributingly arranging the times when the respective wireless communication apparatuses act as the host communication apparatus.
