The invention relates to a method for locating the position of the wheels (2-5) of a vehicle (1), which comprises a preliminary storage phase for each wheel (2-5) of an image of the signal intensity from an electronic housing (6-9) fitted on said wheel. The invention comprises controlling the transmission by each electronic housing (6-9) of a sequence of n signals transmitted at predetermined time intervals, computing for each sequence of n signals the time variation of the correlation coefficients between each signal of said sequence and each of the stored images, computing the correlation peak of the correlation coefficients of each of the n signals and the time position over a wheel revolution of each of the n correlation peaks, and selecting for each stored image the wheel (2-5) at the origin of the transmission of the sequences having the highest correlation peaks associated with time intervals corresponding to the transmission time intervals of the n signals of the sequences.
