The present invention relates to a process for encapsulating radioactive waste in the form of small powder particles, beads or granules having an average particle size of less than 2 mm, preferably less than 1 mm, and even more preferably spent radioactive ion-exchange resin particles, characterized in that the following successive steps are carried out: said small particles of radioactive waste, preferably after these have been dried, are mixed (1e) with thermoplastic polymer beads or granules (1-2) which are heated so as to melt said thermoplastic polymer in order to encapsulate said small particles of radioactive waste with said thermoplastic polymer, and the mixture obtained in step 1/ is then injected by means of an injection press (9) into a mould (3) in which it solidifies, preferably at room temperature, and, after solidification, said small blocks in the form of the impression of said mould are recovered.
|
